Treatment MeasuresRain Gardens : Types

Design considerations should investigate: soil chemistry, detention time, storage volume and hydraulic structure required to suit the catchment are being serviced or drained.

Rain Gardens provide close interaction with the natural ground, and offer other options to traditional sand filters. A beneficial interaction offered is groundwater recharge where soils and geology characteristics are suitable. Use of Rain Gardens on steep slopes; will require natural ground interaction to be controlled. The lining the garden area and sub-surface drainage system that is installed, is so as to prevent soil clogging of surrounding soil by trapped particulates.
